Cleansing is the foundation of your skincare routine, and we want to share some tips to make sure you’re getting optimal use out of your products. There’s a tendency for people to believe that a cleanser should give your skin a squeaky-clean and tight feel. However, this is actually the result of your skin being stripped of its natural oil barrier, causing unnecessary stress and dryness to the skin. No matter what skin type you have, this results in undesirable effects such as premature fine lines and/or deeper blemishes, In short, your skin should feel soft and hydrated after you cleanse, which is the perfect primer for treatments and moisturizers.

The cleansers we carry at the Beauty Bungalow create soft, supple skin with a beautiful medley of oils and other phytonutrient-rich ingredients. They gently pull impurities, excess oil, bacteria, and makeup from the skin, all while delivering potent herbal actives and rich plant oils, which soften, plump, restore and preserve our ever so important acid mantle barrier. This protects us from pollutants, free radicals, and acne-causing bacteria.

Unsure which cleanser to buy?

Pro tip: drier skin types should stick to creamier balmy cleansers while oiler/combination types are best suited for oil and gels. If you’re lucky enough to have “normal” skin you can use any of the above!

Traditional high foam cleansers and those containing Sodium Laurel Sulfate tend to be very stripping and best to avoid. As for the ever-popular makeup wipes, we regret to inform you that they are not a proper substitute for a thorough cleansing routine. They are, however, ok in a pinch from time to time. Additionally, exfoliating cleansers can be great, but best used once or twice a week, to avoid stripping and inflammation as well. Please know we are here if you need us, we are doing virtual consultations, and we can’t wait to see you again!
