We know there are a lot of options out there. It can seem like an easy solution to take advice from friends, bloggers, or even someone you know who has recently started selling skincare themselves. But here is the thing, we all have unique skin and skincare needs. So what works for someone else may not work for you. The sooner we can all accept this truth, the sooner we can start reaching our #SKINGOALS! It is best to consult with someone who treats your skin regularly, like your esthetician, when searching for products and skin remedies. We want you to know that the most important skincare tip is choosing the right products for your individual needs and getting yourself on a consistent routine.
Our Summer Series is going to break it all down for you. From routine, ingredients in your products and their effects, to some of our recommendations for each unique skin type and why we trust the product lines we carry. As always we are here or you! So if you want to dive deeper feel free to reach out to the Beauty Bungalow and we can help you along the way.
Part 1: Routine
When you are cooking dinner, do you usually use one ingredient? No. We all know that the key to a healthy and balanced meal is variety, fresh ingredients, and putting some time aside to make it happen! Well, the same goes for skincare. Layering is essential to making sure your skin is being fed with all the nutrients it needs to function at it’s best. You just can’t get everything you need from one jar.
Cleanse– This is the foundation of your routine. You will use a Creamy, Oil-based or Gel Cleanser depending on your skin type
Tone– Elixirs and Toners balance, hydrate and prep the skin
Treat– The serums that we carry are densely packed with nutrients and antioxidants to feed your skin and help address certain concerns. Serums are the “main course” of your routine so don’t skip!
Moisturizer– Use Creams, Balms or Oils to hydrate your skin and to keep your skin’s barrier function healthy.
SPF– Protect your skin from the harmful effects of UV rays.
Cleanse– Wash the day away
Exfoliate– This Promotes cell turnover, brightens the skin and fights congestion. 1-3 times per week.
Mask– 1-3 times per week
Treat– Use serums to restore your skin
Moisturize– Skin cells do their greatest renewal and repair while you sleep so applying hydration maximizes absorption and enhances the skin barrier.
Now you have the steps to start a routine or polish up your current routine. Next month we will be discussing what makes a quality product and how to choose what’s right for your skin!
